Alan S. Berkeley, M.D.

Biography

Dr. Berkeley is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has been practicing Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for more than 30 years. His areas of special interest include female infertility, IVF, fertility preservation, myomectomy, hysteroscopy, endometriosis, female reproductive system disorder, surrogate mothers, fibroid tumors, egg donation, male infertility, ectopic pregnancy, minimally invasive surgery, fertility, recurrent miscarriage, artificial insemination, gynecological surgery, preimplantation diagnosis, ovulation induction, tubal reanastomosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, oocyte recovery, endometriosis surgery, and egg freezing.

Qualifications:

Dr. Berkeley is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Director at the NYU Langone Fertility Center. He completed advanced infertility training with a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Yale - New Haven Medical Center in New Haven, CT. He also received his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale - New Haven Medical Center and earned his medical degree from the New York Medical College in New York, NY in 1973.

Achievements:

Dr. Berkeley’s clinical articles have been published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Fertility & Sterility. He was awarded the Medical Achievement Award for his work in the filed of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by Bonei Olam, an organization dedicated to helping couples achieve their long-awaited dream of parenthood, honored by Resolve for outstanding dedication and commitment to the mission of creating families and recognized by the American Infertility Association for his support and dedication to individuals experiencing infertility. He has been named to the NY Magazine “Best Doctors” list many times.

Elizabeth Fino, M.D.

Biography

Dr. Fino is board-certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Fino is the Director of the Donor Egg/Third Party Reproduction Program at the New York University (NYU) Langone Fertility Center. Dr. Fino is actively involved in research and education and serves as the Associate Director of the NYU Langone Fellowship Program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. As a clinician, Dr. Fino treats all aspects of infertility and reproductive disorders. Her areas of special interest include in vitro fertilization, fertility preservation in cancer patients, egg freezing, third party reproduction, preimplantation diagnosis, and LGBTQ health including fertility preservation in transgender individuals. She is Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility team provider for the NYU Gender & Sexuality Service at NYU Langone Medical Center. Dr. Fino also has special expertise in hysteroscopy and minimally invasive surgery for reproductive disorders including endometriosis, fibroids, and ovarian cysts.

Qualifications:

Dr. Fino received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, Washington DC and her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She then moved to New York City and completed both her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York, NY. Following her advanced training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, Dr. Fino joined the renowned NYU Fertility Center Team in 2009.

Dr. Fino’s clinical articles have been published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Fertility & Sterility. She has received multiple awards throughout her time at the NYU Langone Medical Center where she continues to serve on the Board Of Graduate Medical Education for the NYU Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Fino is a member of the New York Medical Society, the American Society for Reproducive Medicine (ASRM) and the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). She has been recognized as a Leading Physician of the World and Top Obstetrician, Gynecologist and Fertility Physician in New York, NY. She is an active member of the Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group of the ASRM and serves on the Advisory Council for the Alliance for Fertility Preservation.

James A. Grifo, M.D., PhD

Biography

Dr. Jamie Grifo has been the Program Director of the New York University (NYU) Langone Fertility Center since 1995. He is also the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the NYU School of Medicine.

Qualifications:

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate, Dr. Grifo received his MD and PhD degrees at Case Western Reserve Medical School, completed his residency at Cornell University Medical Center, and his Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Yale University. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology, as well as being certified by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy.

Achievements:

Dr. Grifo has pioneered techniques in preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and preimplantation genetic screening (PGS). In 1992, he performed the first embryo biopsy that resulted in a live birth in the United States. A leader in egg freezing, Dr. Grifo’s research team produced the NYU Vitrification Method, which has been in use at the Center since 2004. The first baby born through the use of egg freezing at the Center was in July 2005. A member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) since 1989, Dr. Grifo has served on the Ethics Committee and is past president of the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART).

Dr. Grifo has received many honors during his career, including the President’s Award from RESOLVE and the SART prize for research. He has been featured extensively in top-tier national media, including Vogue, The New York Times, TODAY Show, CNN, MSNBC, The New Yorker, Scientific American, and Wired, among others. His book, The Whole Life Fertility Plan, co-written with Kyra Phillips, was published in 2015.

Brooke Hodes-Wertz, M.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Hodes-Wertz is board-certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her areas of special interest include female infertility, male infertility, in vitro fertilization, fertility preservation, recurrent miscarriage, polycystic ovary syndrome, hysteroscopy, endometriosis, preimplantation diagnosis, fertility, family-building for LGBTQ patients, surrogate mothers, minimally invasive surgery, egg freezing, fibroid tumor, oocyte recovery, endometriosis surgery, ovulation induction, gynecological surgery, artificial insemination, ectopic pregnancy, and egg donation.

Dr. Hodes-Wertz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Director at the NYU Langone Fertility Center. She completed advanced infertility training with a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the NYU School of Medicine in New York, NY. She also received her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the NYU School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry NJ in 2007, where she also received her masters in public health.

Frederick L. Licciardi, M.D.

Biography

Dr. Licciardi is board-certified in both Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His areas of special interest include female infertility, in vitro fertilization, egg freezing, hysteroscopy, artificial insemination, fertility, egg donation, preimplantation diagnosis, gynecological surgery, fertility preservation, male infertility, fibroid tumor, ovulation induction, surrogate mothers, endometriosis, recurrent miscarriage, oocyte recovery, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis surgery, ectopic pregnancy, and minimally invasive surgery.

Qualifications:

Dr. Licciardi is a Professor in the Obstetrics and Gynecology at the NYU Langone Fertility Center, where he is the Director of the Fellowship Program in Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Licciardi completed advanced infertility training with a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Cornell Medical Center in New York, NY. He received his residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center and earned his medical degree from the Rutgers State University of New Jersey.

Achievements:

Dr. Licciardi’s numerous clinical articles have been published in the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Fertility & Sterility, Scientific Reports and the New England Journal of Medicine.

He has been recognized by the American Fertility Association for his dedication to the treatment of infertile patients. He is the author of the award winning Infertility Blog. Dr. Licciardi has been featured in national media, including the Today Show, CNN, Cosmopolitan, The New York Times and others. He has served on the board of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies.
